Russia, Ukraine Down Over 200 Drones Across Multiple Regions Overnight

On the nights of August 8–10, intense drone and missile attacks were exchanged between Russia and Ukraine. Russia launched large-scale drone strikes on Ukraine, including over 100 Shahed-type UAVs on the night of August 9–10, with Ukraine's air defenses destroying 70 of these drones and repelling attacks targeting multiple frontline regions. On the previous night, August 8–9, Russia also conducted strikes using 47 drones and two Iskander-K cruise missiles, with Ukrainian defenses downing or jamming 16 drones and one missile. Simultaneously, Russian air defense claimed to have shot down 97 Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions overnight on August 8–9, with additional claims of 121 drones shot down on the night of August 9–10 across multiple Russian territories. The drone attacks caused casualties and damage, including a fatal incident in Saratov region where a drone fell into a residential courtyard and an airport temporarily suspended operations. Both sides utilized anti-aircraft, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems units to counter the attacks amid ongoing hostilities.
