Diamond Sports Group (DSG), currently in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, announced it will cease broadcasting games for 11 of the 12 MLB teams it carried in 2024, retaining only the Atlanta Braves for 2025. The affected teams include the Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Miami Marlins, St. Louis Cardinals, and Tampa Bay Rays. MLB officials were caught off guard by the announcement, having had no prior notice or opportunity to review the changes before the court hearing. DSG stated that it aims to emerge from bankruptcy as a viable business by the end of the year and is in discussions with the teams about future plans. Teams affected by this decision will need to negotiate new deals with DSG or find alternative broadcasters. The court has scheduled another session on October 9, with a final confirmation hearing on November 14.
