'Fashioning Wonder' Exhibition Opens at Museum at FIT

The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology has launched 'Fashioning Wonder: A Cabinet of Curiosities,' curated by Dr. Colleen Hill, running until April 20, 2025. This exhibition draws inspiration from historical cabinets of curiosities, showcasing 200 garments and accessories through ten thematic sections, including 'Specimens,' featuring natural world motifs, and 'Aviary,' focusing on feathers and birds, with works by designers such as Tom Ford and Tiffany. Dr. Hill's work is known for integrating interdisciplinary research with fashion storytelling, similar to her previous exhibition, 'Fairy Tale Fashion.' This trend reflects a broader acceptance of fashion as an art form, as evidenced by the Louvre's recent debut couture exhibition, affirming the role of museums as sources of inspiration.
