San Diego Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the shooting death of James Garcia, whose body was discovered in a shallow grave in Balboa Park on July 25. Brandon Mario Winegarden, 28, was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact, while Jeffrey Michael Jones, 41, was identified as the suspected shooter and is already in custody. Investigators believe Garcia was killed on May 23 by Jones, who was aided by Winegarden in burying the body. All individuals involved were reportedly homeless and living in Balboa Park at the time of the incident. The SDPD Homicide Unit continues to investigate the motive behind the shooting. Winegarden is being held on $50,000 bail, while Jones remains in no-bail custody awaiting trial.
