Crusoe Expands AI Data Center in Texas, Secures 4.5 GW Energy Deal

Crusoe Energy Systems has announced the construction of the next phase of its AI data center at the Lancium Clean Campus in Abilene, Texas, aiming for completion in mid-2026. This expansion will increase Crusoe's data center footprint to over 1.6 gigawatts, with a total capacity of 1.2 gigawatts expected from the new facilities. Additionally, Crusoe has secured a significant deal to access 4.5 gigawatts of power generated by natural gas turbines, which will support the growing energy demands of AI infrastructure. The company is transitioning its focus from Bitcoin mining to AI, with plans to build high-density data centers optimized for Nvidia's GPUs. Backed by major investors, including a $500 million equity infusion and a $3.4 billion financing deal, Crusoe is positioned to play a critical role in the Stargate project, which aims to invest $500 billion into AI computing over the next four years. This energy-first approach is intended to address the significant power requirements of AI data centers, moving away from reliance on traditional power grids.
