Rediscovered Thomas & Friends Pilot Released Online for 80th Anniversary

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of Thomas & Friends, the original 1983 pilot episode titled "Down The Mine" has been rediscovered, restored, and will be released online for the first time. Narrated by Beatles drummer Sir Ringo Starr with a new musical arrangement by longtime composer Mike O'Donnell, the pilot offers fans a nostalgic glimpse into the show's beginnings. The series, which originated from a 1945 book and ran on TV from 1984 to 2021, has evolved through various channels and is now available on Netflix. Along with the episode release, original artwork and props signed by notable voice actors such as Olivia Colman, Eddie Redmayne, and Hugh Bonneville will be auctioned, with proceeds benefiting the National Autistic Society. The restoration highlights the show's enduring appeal and its role in sharing timeless stories and valuable life lessons. The pilot will be available on the official Thomas & Friends YouTube channel.
