Ocala Hit-and-Run Kills 76-Year-Old Pedestrian; Driver Sought
Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for a dark-colored, full-sized van with front-end grille damage that struck and killed a 76-year-old man pushing a grocery cart across State Road 200 at Southwest 60th Street in Marion County, Florida. The hit-and-run crash occurred around 7:37 to 8 p.m. on September 23 in an unlit area, and the driver fled westbound on SR 200 without stopping. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have temporarily closed westbound lanes during the investigation and are urging anyone with information to contact FHP Cpl. John Gurrieri or CrimeStoppers. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety in poorly lit areas and the dangers of hit-and-run crashes.
