Israeli Startup Commcrete Raises $29M to Miniaturize Military Satellite Communications
Israeli startup Commcrete has raised $29 million in Seed and Series A funding rounds led by Greenfield Partners and supported by Mobileye founder Amnon Shashua and other investors to advance its ultra-compact tactical satellite communication (SATCOM) systems. The company’s handheld devices, including the Flipper, Stardust, and Bittel, convert traditional radios and vehicles into satellite-enabled communication tools that provide continuous, secure voice, text, and data connectivity without bulky antennas or clear sky access. These innovations address the longstanding limitations of battlefield and emergency communications, which have relied on heavy, complex, and often unreliable hardware vulnerable to challenging environments like dense forests, urban areas, and adverse weather. Founded by veterans of Israel’s elite defense technology units, Commcrete’s technology has proven effective in disaster response and conflict zones where traditional systems failed. The funding will support the company’s global expansion across Europe, North America, East Asia, Australia, and the Middle East amid increased demand for reliable, portable tactical communications. This advancement is particularly critical as geopolitical tensions and supply chain constraints heighten the need for self-reliant defense communication capabilities.
