Man Arrested for Attempted Murder of Palm Beach Nurse

A nurse at HCA Florida Palms West Hospital in Palm Beach County was critically injured after being attacked by a male patient, identified as 33-year-old Stephen Scantlebury, on Tuesday at approximately 1:20 PM. The incident, described as occurring 'within a matter of seconds,' was witnessed by multiple individuals and prompted a swift response from law enforcement, who later apprehended Scantlebury outside the hospital. The nurse was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment, and Scantlebury is facing charges of attempted murder while undergoing medical clearance. Witnesses reported the scene as shocking, with video footage capturing Scantlebury walking along Southern Boulevard shortly after the attack. HCA Florida Healthcare expressed concern for the nurse and provided support to the hospital staff affected by the incident.
