Woman escapes three-month captivity, abuse in Czech Republic

A 27-year-old woman in the Czech Republic was rescued after enduring a three-month ordeal of kidnapping, rape, and torture at the hands of a truck driver named Karel N. She escaped on February 16, fleeing a basement where she was forced to drink from a dog bowl and was kept chained. Neighbors reported her severely malnourished and described her as having been stripped of hair and treated inhumanely. Karel N., who has a history of similar crimes, was previously convicted for the abuse of another woman in 2021, who also detailed horrific torture including electric shocks and forced compliance. The cases have drawn comparisons to the notorious Josef Fritzl, highlighting the severity of the crimes committed. Karel N. has since been arrested following the victim's escape and the subsequent outcry from the community.
