Carney proposed establishing a Major Federal Project Office to streamline project approvals, aiming for decisions within two years instead of five. This initiative is part of a broader effort to diversify Canada's trade partners and bolster its economic competitiveness. The plan also includes a 'first and last mile fund' to integrate critical mineral projects into supply chains. Meanwhile, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has also promised to expedite project approvals with a similar 'one-stop shop' approach.
