Istanbul Airport Named Busiest in Europe

Istanbul Airport has been recognized as Europe's busiest airport, recording an average of 1,352 daily flights between December 2 and December 8, according to reports from the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol). This achievement highlights the airport's growing prominence in global aviation and its role as a crucial hub connecting major cities across continents. Turkish Minister of Transport, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, emphasized that Istanbul Airport has surpassed major competitors like London Heathrow and Amsterdam Schiphol, showcasing Türkiye's expanding aviation sector. Additionally, Sabiha Gökçen Airport ranked 10th in Europe with an average of 662 daily flights, contributing to Türkiye's overall sixth position in European air traffic with a daily average of 2,511 flights. The airport's operational efficiency is underscored by an impressive flight delay average of less than half a minute per flight. This success reflects the effective management and technological advancements at Istanbul Airport, affirming its status as a global aviation powerhouse.
