Christian Wade will leave rugby league's Wigan Warriors at the end of the season to return to rugby union with Newcastle Red Bulls from December. The 34-year-old wing, who is the second-highest try-scorer in Premiership history with 93 tries—just eight behind Chris Ashton’s record—has had a varied career including stints in French Top 14, American football, and rugby league. Wade joined Wigan on a short-term deal from Gloucester but struggled to make a lasting impact in rugby league, playing only two games and scoring two tries. Newcastle Red Bulls, newly taken over by Red Bull, view Wade as a key signing to add proven finishing power and character to their squad, with director of rugby Steve Diamond praising his ability and ambition.
