President Zelenskyy Designates New Hero Cities Posthumously Honors Ukrainian Defenders

On the occasion of Defenders of Ukraine Day and the Christian feast of the Intercession, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored both cities and individuals for their resilience and heroism in defending Ukraine. He signed a decree recognizing several cities as Hero Cities for their crucial role in saving lives and defending the nation. Zelenskyy also posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to four individuals—Andriy Parubiy, Hennadii Afanasiev, Stepan Chubenko, and Volodymyr Vakulenko—highlighting their diverse contributions to the defense and cultural identity of Ukraine. Additionally, the president visited wounded servicemen undergoing treatment, presenting them and combat medics with state awards in recognition of their bravery and dedication. These honors emphasize the multifaceted nature of heroism, encompassing frontline combat, civic activism, and cultural resistance. Zelenskyy's actions reinforce national unity and gratitude toward those defending Ukraine's sovereignty during ongoing conflict.
