Rivers State Administrator Declares Mandate Fulfilled After Successful Local Elections
Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the Administrator of Rivers State, has declared that the mandate given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore democratic governance at the grassroots level has been sufficiently achieved. This announcement was made following the peaceful conduct and successful swearing-in of democratically elected chairmen and councillors across all 23 local government areas in Rivers State. Ibas highlighted that the elections were fair, credible, and transparent, with no harassment reported, reflecting a peaceful and enabling environment fostered under his administration. He commended the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) for their role in organizing the elections and assured that his administration will review the RSIEC report and issue an official government white paper. Ibas expressed gratitude to his team, security agencies, and state officials for their cooperation and synergy, emphasizing that their collective efforts were essential to achieving the mandate. The successful elections mark the re-establishment of democratic institutions and the stabilization of the state as directed by President Tinubu.
