Multiple U.S. Communities Honor 9/11 First Responders on 24th Anniversary

Communities across the United States commemorated the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with various memorial events honoring first responders. In Tulsa, over 200 first responders, including a firefighter and his son, participated in a memorial climb replicating the ascent faced by New York firefighters, carrying photos of fallen heroes to ensure their sacrifices are remembered. Hilliard rededicated its First Responders Park, featuring artifacts from Ground Zero and recently renovated with grant funds, where local officials and first responders emphasized the bravery and ultimate sacrifices made. Dayton hosted its inaugural 9/11 Softball Classic, blending community engagement with fundraising to support local first responders, highlighting personal stories tied to the attacks. Additionally, Mark May, a Cedarburg firefighter who assisted in Ground Zero rescue efforts and now faces health issues related to that work, was honored at a high school event recognizing military and first responders. These events collectively underscore the enduring impact of 9/11 and the ongoing commitment to honor those who responded heroically.
