Omar Al Fayed Accuses Father of Faking Illness

Omar Al Fayed has alleged that his late father, Mohamed Al Fayed, feigned dementia to evade prosecution for extensive sexual abuse accusations, with claims spanning from 1977 to 2014 involving over 150 women. Omar contends that his father, who died at 94, was mentally sharp and used this pretense to mislead police, preventing thorough investigations into his conduct. As a result of renewed scrutiny, the Metropolitan Police have reported 90 new alleged victims, adding to a total of 111 accusations against the former Harrods owner, including serious charges of rape. Omar expressed regret over missed opportunities for justice during his father's lifetime, proposing that Al Fayed should be prosecuted as if he were a war criminal. He described his father's behavior as predatory, likening him to notorious figures like Jimmy Savile and Harvey Weinstein, and criticized the failures of law enforcement in addressing the allegations earlier.
