Singer Bossiie Sues BBC for £10 Million

Singer Gladness Jukic, known as Bossiie, is suing the BBC for £10 million, alleging that the reality show 'Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star' was based on her idea, which she pitched in May 2018. Jukic claims her concept, 'Bossiie: 10-Minute Makeover', involved self-taught YouTube makeup artists competing and was similar to the final show produced by Wall to Wall Media, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. The BBC denies the allegations, asserting that Jukic's email bounced back due to attachment size and that they had already commissioned the show prior to her submission. BBC lawyers are seeking to have the case dismissed, arguing the similarities between the shows are too commonplace to qualify for copyright protection. Jukic has previously lost a legal battle concerning the trademark for the show's title, incurring court costs. The High Court will decide on the next steps in the case.
