Long Island Man Charged Selling $2M Counterfeit Nintendo Products

News summary

Isaac Lapidus, a 34-year-old man from Lawrence, New York, has been charged with first-degree trademark counterfeiting and fourth-degree conspiracy for allegedly selling over $2 million worth of counterfeit Nintendo products on Amazon through five different seller accounts. Between October 2018 and September 2025, Lapidus sold more than 200,000 fake Nintendo Switch docking stations, 10,000 dock adapters, and approximately 15,705 counterfeit Pokémon Go Plus accessories, which were stored and distributed from a warehouse in Island Park. The counterfeit products were identified by inconsistencies such as incorrect serial numbers, product codes, designs, and Japanese language characters, prompting an investigation initiated by Amazon and Nintendo. Following a search warrant executed at the Island Park warehouse, authorities seized numerous boxes of fake merchandise and froze the associated Amazon accounts to prevent further sales. Lapidus, who pleaded not guilty, was released to pre-trial services and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The case is being prosecuted by the Nassau County District Attorney's Organized Crime and Rackets Bureau.
