Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari's Weight Loss Journey
Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari, once the heaviest man alive at 610 kilograms, has achieved a remarkable transformation, losing 542 kilograms with the aid of former Saudi King Abdullah. His journey began in 2013 when he was bedridden for over three years and completely reliant on others for his basic needs. King Abdullah intervened, arranging for Khalid to receive extensive medical care at no cost, which included gastric bypass surgery, a customized diet, and an exercise regimen. Khalid was transported to King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh on a specially designed bed, where a team of 30 medical professionals dedicated themselves to his care. In just six months, he lost nearly half of his body weight, ultimately reaching a healthy weight of 63.5 kilograms by 2023, although he required additional surgeries to remove excess skin. Today, he is affectionately known as 'The Smiling Man' by those who supported him throughout this life-changing journey.
