Kimo Ah Yun Named 25th President of Marquette University

Kimo Ah Yun has been unanimously elected as the 25th president of Marquette University, making history as the first person of color and the second lay president in the institution's 143-year history. Ah Yun, who previously served as acting president after the death of Michael Lovell in June 2024, has been part of Marquette since 2016, holding roles such as dean and provost. His appointment comes amid challenges for the university, including a $9 million budget shortfall and a potential vote of no confidence from the Academic Senate regarding his leadership. Despite these challenges, the Board of Trustees expressed confidence in Ah Yun's ability to lead the university forward, prioritizing educational access and student success.
