Apple RC Updates Add Satellite, Parental Controls

Apple has released the Release Candidate (RC) versions of iOS 18.5, iPadOS 18.5, and macOS Sequoia 15.5 to developers and public beta testers, with a public launch expected the week of May 12. The updates focus on minor features, bug fixes, and performance improvements. Notable additions in iOS 18.5 include a new Pride Harmony wallpaper matching the latest Apple Watch band, improved parental alerts for Screen Time passcode changes, Mail app tweaks such as toggling contact photos and categories, and support for carrier-provided satellite services on iPhone 13 models. The update also addresses an issue with the Apple Vision Pro app and makes AppleCare warranty information more accessible in settings. macOS 15.5 RC mainly brings stability improvements. These releases are expected to be among the last before Apple previews iOS 19 and other major software updates at the June Worldwide Developers Conference.
