Manchester Synagogue Attack Kills Two; Attacker Shot

A vehicle-ramming and stabbing attack outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester on Yom Kippur left two people dead and several others seriously injured. Armed officers shot the attacker dead at the scene within minutes, and witnesses said worshippers were held inside the synagogue before being evacuated. Police have declared the incident a terrorist attack, said they believe they know the suspect’s identity, have made further arrests and called in a bomb squad after finding suspicious items on the attacker. Prime Minister Keir Starmer returned to chair a COBR meeting, and national and local leaders pledged extra patrols and measures to protect Jewish communities.
