Delhi Bus Driver Assaulted in Public Incident

A 45-year-old Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus driver, Ram Gopal, was violently assaulted and allegedly kidnapped by a group of men after he refused to let them overtake on the wrong side near Safdarjung Hospital. A viral video captured the incident, showing the assailants forcefully pushing Gopal into their vehicle following a confrontation over a perceived road rage. The police received a call about the assault at 7:18 am, but both the victim and attackers arrived at the police station later. The attackers, identified as brothers Mohammad Sohail and Mohammad Shariq along with Akbar Ali, initially drove around after the assault, further attacking the driver before taking him to the police station. The incident has sparked discussions about the safety of public transport workers in Delhi and calls for improved protective measures. Authorities are currently investigating the matter following the public outrage and the circulation of the video.
