Space Needle Debuts Glass Double-Decker Outdoor Elevator

Seattle's Space Needle has unveiled the 'Skyliner,' North America's first all-glass, double-decker outdoor elevator, as part of a $100 million modernization initiative known as the Century Project. The Skyliner offers floor-to-ceiling glass views of the Seattle skyline and the tower's internal structure, drawing inspiration from the original 1962 design. Otis Worldwide, the company responsible for the original Space Needle elevators and the Eiffel Tower elevators, is leading the modernization effort. The Skyliner is the first of three elevators set to be installed by 2028. The project also includes features like a revolving glass floor and expanded observation areas. These enhancements reflect the Space Needle's ongoing commitment to innovation and preserving its status as an iconic Seattle landmark.
