Body Cam Footage Released from LAPD Shooting of Weezer Bassist's Wife

The Los Angeles Police Department has released body camera and home surveillance footage of the officer-involved shooting of Jillian Shriner, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, which occurred on April 8 in the Eagle Rock neighborhood. Police were searching for hit-and-run suspects from a nearby freeway crash when they encountered Shriner in her backyard, armed with a handgun. Officers repeatedly shouted commands for her to drop the weapon, identifying themselves as police, but Shriner allegedly refused and ultimately pointed her gun at the officers, prompting them to open fire and strike her in the shoulder. Shriner, who was recently revealed to be battling cancer, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer.
