Utz Opens 650,000 Square-Foot Distribution Center

Utz Brands has officially opened its new 650,000 square-foot Rice Distribution Center in Hanover, Pennsylvania, consolidating six smaller facilities into one and retaining 180 jobs. This state-of-the-art logistics hub will serve as the primary center for inventory storage, consolidation, and distribution, with an estimated capacity to handle 2.3 million pallets and 1.1 billion pounds of product annually. CEO Howard Friedman stated that the facility will streamline operations and support the company's growth across the U.S., while honoring the legacy of Michael W. Rice, a long-time company leader. Governor Josh Shapiro attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, highlighting the project's significance for local agribusiness. Additionally, improvements to traffic flow are planned to coincide with the center's opening, enhancing access for the community. Utz remains committed to its roots, as two-thirds of its product volume is still produced in Hanover.
