145 Report Needle Spiking Across France Music Festival; 12 Arrested

During France's annual Fête de la Musique festival, 145 people across the country, including 13 in Paris, reported being stabbed with syringes, prompting the arrest of 12 suspects. Officials are investigating whether these incidents involve so-called needle spiking, potentially using date-rape drugs like Rohypnol or GHB, which can incapacitate victims. The attacks occurred amid unprecedented crowds, with social media posts reportedly calling for women to be targeted at the event. Victims, some seriously injured, have undergone toxicological testing as authorities continue their investigation. Among those arrested were four suspects in Angoulême believed to have targeted about 50 victims, as well as two men in Metz linked to syringe attacks on minors. This spate of attacks follows a broader trend of needle spiking incidents reported across Europe and the UK in recent years.
