Orlando City Hands Columbus Crew First 2025 Home Loss 3-1
The Columbus Crew suffered their first home loss of the 2025 MLS season, falling 3-1 to Orlando City at Lower.com Field despite taking an early lead through a penalty kick by Diego Rossi. Orlando's substitutes Ramiro Enrique and Martín Ojeda were decisive, with Enrique scoring two quick goals after coming on in the 67th minute and Ojeda adding a late goal in stoppage time, helping Orlando secure their second consecutive win. Columbus dominated possession with around 61% and outshot Orlando 18-10 but failed to convert their numerous chances, highlighting offensive struggles. The defeat marks the Crew’s fifth loss of the season and drops them to fourth place in the Eastern Conference, while Orlando moves closer in sixth place. Columbus is expected to strengthen its squad during the MLS Secondary Transfer Window, having already announced new signings like midfielder Hugo Picard and Wessam Abou Ali, as they prepare for the upcoming Leagues Cup match against Toluca. The team’s frustration was evident, with head coach Wilfried Nancy lamenting defensive lapses and missed opportunities that led to the late-game collapse.
