Macomb County man faces felony charges for strangling dog
A 48-year-old man from Richmond Township, Macomb County, is facing charges after allegedly strangling his father's Labrador Retriever to death. The incident occurred on January 14, when deputies of the Macomb County Sheriff's Office were called to the home following reports of a dead pet and potential threats against a family member. The man's father returned home to find him with his arms around the dog, unable to remove them, and the suspect later made threats to harm himself. He was uncooperative with authorities and has been charged with third-degree killing/torturing animals, a felony carrying a potential four-year sentence. The suspect is currently held at the Macomb County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned on January 17. His identity has not been disclosed.
