Favour Ofili, Nigeria's national champion in the women's 100 meters, will not compete in the event at the 2024 Paris Olympics due to her omission from the entry list by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN). Ofili expressed her frustration on social media, revealing that despite qualifying with a personal best of 11.06 seconds, the AFN failed to register her for the race, a repeat of a similar situation that prevented her from competing at the Tokyo Games. Nigerian Sports Minister John Enoh confirmed that he reached out to the AFN, which claimed they had registered Ofili for the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m events. However, World Athletics confirmed she is only entered for the 200 meters and 4x100 relay. Ofili criticized the AFN and the Nigerian Olympic Committee for their negligence, stating that if accountability is not enforced, trust in these organizations will erode further. Meanwhile, Nigeria is left to rely on other athletes for potential medals in the absence of Ofili in the 100m event.
