He has pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and assault, following the incident on May 8, 2023. Meanwhile, David Taylor, 62, has been charged with attempted murder after stabbing a Greater Manchester Police detective in the chest during an interview at the same prison on July 23. Taylor appeared via videolink at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court and is set to appear at Teesside Crown Court on October 1. The detective is recovering at home after hospital treatment for his injuries. Both cases highlight ongoing violence within the prison system.
