Lalu Prasad Yadav Sanctioned for Prosecution in Scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has received sanction from the Ministry of Home Affairs to prosecute former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in the ongoing land-for-job scam case. Alongside Yadav, over 30 other accused individuals still await prosecution sanctions, prompting the CBI to request an additional 15 days from the court to expedite the process. The case dates back to Yadav's tenure from 2004 to 2009, during which it is alleged that individuals were appointed to railway positions in exchange for land transfers to Yadav's family members. A conclusive charge sheet filed by the CBI in June includes Yadav and 77 others, with the next court hearing scheduled for October 15. The Enforcement Directorate is also investigating related money laundering allegations against Yadav's family members. Recent developments include bail granted to Yadav and his family members in the case, raising questions about the ongoing proceedings.
