Jennifer Lawrence Reflects on Two-Year Hiatuses

Jennifer Lawrence told The Graham Norton Show she was "at peace" with the possibility of not returning to Hollywood during two extended, two‑year acting breaks, saying "Hollywood is a lot" after working steadily through her twenties. The hiatuses followed a string of underperforming films — Passengers, mother!, Red Sparrow and Dark Phoenix — and came amid burnout and creative dissatisfaction; she later told Vanity Fair she wasn’t "pumping out the quality" she should have and had grown tired of people‑pleasing. She joked that she "made COVID happen" to justify the timing of her first pause, and producing partner Justine Polsky has said the pressures of stardom began to dull her creative spirit. Lawrence returned in 2021 with Don't Look Up, has embraced new personal roles including motherhood, and has since been promoting the Cannes‑premiered psychodrama Die My Love.
