Inter Milan and AC Milan Propose New Stadium

Inter Milan and AC Milan are moving forward with plans to construct a new stadium in the San Siro district, following a meeting with Milan's Mayor Giuseppe Sala and Italy's culture and sports ministers. The new proposal involves repurposing the current San Siro stadium, addressing a major concern that had previously derailed their joint project last year. The clubs have rejected plans to modernize the existing stadium and are instead focusing on acquiring land in the surrounding area, including a site in San Donato Milanese, to facilitate the project. The ongoing uncertainty regarding the San Siro has already impacted major events, including the relocation of the 2027 Champions League final from Milan. The city will begin the bureaucratic process necessary for the project, which aims to revitalize both the stadium and its surroundings. Additionally, the San Siro is scheduled to host the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in 2026.
