Multiple Bull Moose Rescued From Water Canals in Wyoming, Colorado, Maine

Several recent wildlife rescue operations successfully saved young bull moose trapped in water canals and wells across different states. In Riverton, Wyoming, a young bull moose was immobilized with a capture drug, loaded into a trailer, and relocated to a safer habitat by Game and Fish officers with local law enforcement support. Near Estes Park, Colorado, officers from Colorado Parks and Wildlife collaborated with Bureau of Reclamation workers to rescue a moose by wrapping ropes around its antlers and lifting it out of a canal with a crane; the moose was tranquilized for safety and sustained only minor injuries. A similar rescue in Maine involved an excavator to lift a moose out of an abandoned well after it was sedated, with the animal unharmed and released back into the wild.
