LeFrak Completes New Jersey's Largest High-Rise Solar Installation

LeFrak has completed New Jersey's largest solar panel installation on a high-rise residential building, The Beach, located in Jersey City's Newport neighborhood. The new rooftop system features 450 panels and a capacity of 180kW, which is expected to offset 13% of the building's carbon emissions, roughly equivalent to removing 37 gasoline-powered cars from the road each year. Over the past decade, LeFrak has invested over $100 million in energy conservation and decarbonization efforts, including nearly $1 million for this project. Charles Burton, head of Community Relations for LeFrak, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability and community development. Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop praised the project as a model for future sustainable developments, highlighting its potential to set a standard statewide. The solar system will power various common areas within the building, supporting LeFrak's goals for a greener future.
