Microsoft Forms New AI Division CoreAI

Microsoft has announced the formation of a new division called Core AI – Platform and Tools, aimed at developing artificial intelligence applications and supporting third-party clients. Jay Parikh, former CEO of cybersecurity startup Lacework and ex-global engineering head at Meta, will lead this initiative, reporting directly to CEO Satya Nadella. The division's mission is to create an end-to-end AI stack for both first-party and third-party customers, enhancing the company's competitive stance in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Nadella emphasized the importance of collaboration among top leaders, including Copilot AI head Mustafa Suleyman, to drive innovation and responsiveness in AI development. Microsoft, a major investor in OpenAI, is also independently working on competing products while leveraging OpenAI's models for its internal applications. The establishment of this new group reflects Microsoft's strategic focus on AI as a core element of its business moving forward.
