Airbus Delays A220 14‑Per‑Month Target
Airbus has slowed its A220 production ramp, setting an internal interim target of 12 jets per month by mid‑2026 while the full 14‑per‑month goal is now expected by December 2026. Persistent supply‑chain and assembly problems — including engine faults, wing‑assembly shortages and line errors at plants in Canada and Mobile, Alabama — have left output around seven to eight jets monthly. The disruptions have forced Airbus to remove some A220s from 2025–26 schedules and prompted the company to trim its 2025 delivery outlook from 820 toward the high‑700s. Quebec, which holds a 25% stake in the A220 program, recorded a C$400 million write‑down linked to the delays. Airbus has taken short‑term steps such as airlifting wings from Belfast and shifting workers between lines to protect near‑term deliveries; company spokespeople declined further comment ahead of earnings, and Airbus emphasized sustainability initiatives at the Dubai Airshow 2025.
