Adebayo Ogunlesi Joins OpenAI Board

OpenAI has appointed Adebayo Ogunlesi, Senior Managing Director at BlackRock and co-founder of Global Infrastructure Partners, to its board of directors as part of its transition to a for-profit structure. Ogunlesi brings extensive experience in infrastructure and investment, having previously worked for 23 years at Credit Suisse. His appointment aligns with OpenAI's strategy to enhance its growth and competitive edge in the AI market, following a significant restructuring of its board after the brief ousting of CEO Sam Altman in late 2023. Ogunlesi emphasized the importance of infrastructure investments in realizing AI's potential and expressed enthusiasm for contributing to OpenAI's mission. The company, which recently transitioned to a Public Benefit Corporation, aims to balance commercial ambitions with ethical AI development. OpenAI continues to focus on expanding its infrastructure, including plans for new data centers.
