Luis Castillo Placed on Injured List

Seattle Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, which he sustained during a recent game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Castillo will undergo a platelet-rich plasma injection and hopes to return after the mandatory period, but with the season winding down, he might only make one or two starts before the end. The Mariners, currently 73-71 and 3 games out of the final AL wild-card spot, have seen their playoff hopes diminish significantly, compounded by this injury. Despite having a solid season with a 3.64 ERA over 30 starts, Castillo's absence could further hinder the team’s chances of making the playoffs for the second consecutive year. The team's management, including president Jerry Dipoto, faces pressure as the Mariners' early-season success has faltered dramatically. As of now, the Mariners' playoff odds stand at just 12.1%.
