Princess Sofia Welcomes First Daughter, Ninth Grandchild

Princess Sofia of Sweden and Prince Carl Philip have welcomed their fourth child, a baby girl, marking their first daughter and the newest addition to the Swedish royal family. The baby was born on February 7, 2025, at Danderyd Hospital in Stockholm, weighing 8 pounds and measuring 19 inches. The couple, who are already parents to three sons—Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel, and Prince Julian—announced Sofia's pregnancy in September 2024. The newborn, eighth in line to the throne, will not hold an HRH title due to a 2019 decision by King Carl XVI Gustaf aimed at shaping the royal family's future roles. The name of the baby girl has yet to be revealed, but she will hold a princess title. This birth adds a ninth grandchild to King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia's family.
