Somali-Canadian rapper K'naan, known for his hit 'Wavin' Flag', has been charged with sexual assault in Quebec City, with the incident dating back to July 2010. The charge was filed on September 26, 2024, after the alleged victim, who was 29 at the time, reported the incident in 2022. K'naan, whose real name is Keinan Abdi Warsame, was not present in court, and his lawyers entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf. A preliminary hearing is set for April 2025. Despite the legal issues, K'naan recently received the SOCAN Cultural Impact Award for 'Wavin' Flag' and has returned to the music scene with new projects, including a film. The case has drawn attention due to K'naan's previous acclaim and ongoing contributions to music and film.
