Two Charged in Cannabis Smuggling Case

Two individuals have been charged after attempting to smuggle approximately 45 kilograms of cannabis from Toronto to the United Kingdom on November 14. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) agents discovered the illicit substance concealed in their luggage, with a combined street value of around $175,000. The suspects, a 40-year-old woman and a 32-year-old woman, were arrested and charged under the Cannabis Act, but have since been released pending a court appearance scheduled for February 12, 2025. The RCMP has reiterated the legal consequences of transporting cannabis internationally and advised travelers to be cautious of suspicious offers.
