Mehboob Ali Faces FIR Over Controversial Remarks

Samajwadi Party MLA Mehboob Ali has stirred controversy with his claim that the growing Muslim population in Uttar Pradesh will lead to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) downfall in the 2027 Assembly elections. Addressing a public rally in Bijnor, Ali drew parallels with the Mughal empire to suggest BJP's rule wouldn't last. His remarks, widely shared on social media, have been condemned by BJP leaders who accuse him of promoting religious enmity and divisiveness. An FIR has been lodged against Ali and Bijnor SP chief Shaikh Zakir Hussain for allegedly inciting hatred. Ali also criticized the BJP for its policies on social justice and accused the party of being anti-Constitution and against reservations. The next Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are scheduled for 2027.
