Anjem Choudary and Follower Convicted

Radical Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary has been found guilty of directing the banned terrorist organisation al-Muhajiroun (ALM) and encouraging support for it through online meetings. The conviction follows a joint investigation by the Metropolitan Police, NYPD, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Choudary's leadership role spanned from 2014 until at least 2023, despite his previous imprisonment for supporting ISIS and subsequent release in 2018. His actions have been linked to significant security threats, including radicalizing individuals involved in terrorist attacks. Choudary, along with follower Khaled Hussein, was convicted for their roles in the group. Sentencing is scheduled for July 30, with Choudary potentially facing life imprisonment.
