ICC Announces Record $13.88M Prize Pool for 2025 Women’s World Cup in India, Sri Lanka
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a historic 297 percent increase in prize money for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, raising the total prize pool to a record $13.88 million, surpassing the $10 million prize pool of the Men’s ODI World Cup in 2023. The tournament, hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2, will award the winning team $4.48 million—a 239 percent increase from the previous women’s champions in 2022—and runners-up $2.24 million, with all stages of the competition seeing significant financial boosts. ICC Chairman Jay Shah described the increase as a defining milestone and a clear commitment to the long-term growth and pay parity of women's cricket, emphasizing that women cricketers must be treated on par with men professionally. The prize money distribution also includes guaranteed payments for all teams, with group stage victories earning additional sums, and lower-ranking teams receiving substantial amounts to encourage competitiveness. This major financial uplift aligns with ICC’s strategy to inspire the next generation of players and fans and to ensure that women's cricket receives the recognition and respect it deserves.
