The 19th annual Scranton Jazz Festival is underway, showcasing over 80 performers across more than 20 venues in Downtown Scranton this weekend. The festival, which began on Friday and runs through Sunday, features a variety of musical styles including jazz, blues, and funk, attracting both music lovers and tourists. Artistic Director Marko Marcinko emphasized the festival's rich musical heritage, tracing back to the Dorsey Brothers and the Scranton Sirens from the 1930s. Notable performances include Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on Saturday and the SJF Big Band with guest saxophonist Joe Lovano on Sunday. The event also includes interactive activities and a marketplace on Courthouse Square, enhancing the community experience. The festival aims to highlight Scranton's cultural significance and support local businesses while providing a vibrant atmosphere for attendees.
