Pixar Reveals Gatto, Toy Story 5, and More

Pixar unveiled 'Gatto,' an original animated film directed by Enrico Casarosa and set for summer 2027, which follows Nero, a black cat navigating Venice's canals and indebted to a feline mob boss, with visuals inspired by Venetian art and themes exploring friendship, purpose, and the city's darker aspects. At the Annecy Animation Festival, Pixar also previewed 'Toy Story 5,' confirming Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack's return, and introducing Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl. The film, scheduled for release in June 2026, will depict Woody, Buzz, and friends facing modern challenges as Bonnie becomes attached to a digital tablet named Lillypad. Additional upcoming features include 'Elio,' about a boy mistaken as Earth's ambassador by aliens (June 20, 2025), and 'Hoppers,' which follows a girl using technology to inhabit a robot beaver and save a woodland (March 6, 2026). Pixar emphasized its ongoing commitment to theatrical releases and showcased innovative storytelling and animation styles.
