LegalOn Raises $50M Series E Expands OpenAI Partnership Across US, UK, Japan
LegalOn Technologies, a Japan-based legal tech startup specializing in AI-driven contract review, has raised $50 million in a Series E funding round led by Goldman Sachs Growth Equity, bringing its total funding to $200 million since its founding in 2017. The company, co-founded by former corporate lawyers Nozomu Tsunoda and Masataka Ogasawara, serves over 7,000 clients globally, including a quarter of Japan's public companies and numerous Fortune 500 firms, with significant growth in the U.S. and U.K. markets where business has quadrupled in the past year. LegalOn's platform leverages attorney-created playbooks and AI to reduce contract review times by up to 85%, while recently expanding into matter management to automate contract requests and improve team collaboration. A strategic collaboration with OpenAI grants LegalOn early access to cutting-edge language models, enabling the development of advanced legal AI agents to further streamline contract workflows and reduce tedious legal tasks. CEO Daniel Lewis emphasized that the new funding will accelerate AI product development and market expansion, helping legal teams operate more efficiently and strategically.
